Broom Flying

A one semester only class that every single student must take within their first year at Gerhardt, Broom Flying is a treat for many young witches and wizards. Since it is only practical instruction with no written tests or essays, many consider this class their all time favorite.
The class has been through several changes over the course of its existence, including gaining a specific teacher to teach it back in 1999 with hiring the former star Verona player Grant Wright. Before then it was taught by all of the professors of Gerhardt in a rotation. Since the class is merely an introduction to broom flying, it teaches all the students only the basics, so high level training isn't the focus.
In 2007, Professor Wright proposed having an elective of broom flying that would teach more advanced skills to students that were interested, and he would tutor the Verona teams so it was more fair. It was approved, and there is a healthy amount of students who sign up every year for the elective, braving Northern Michigan's hard weather to gain the added skill of flying on a broom.
Of all the classes that Gerhardt has, this class is perhaps the least spoken of since many - mostly Pureblood and Half-bloods - consider the class a normal skill that everyone learns. There isn't much that can be said about it since to them it is normal. The only people that find the class marvelous are the Non-blood students.
