Drawbacks of a creative mind

Sometimes, I hate my brain. Yes, you read that right. Having a creative mind as I do is very much a double edged sword. It's wonderful for thinking up scenes and riveting plots when writing a book, but at the same time can give me far too many ideas for a given time period.

The Lily Black Saga has many twists and turns that I am creating, but as I write, or edit, different story ideas suddenly walk into my mind demanding my attention without invitation. This results in me not getting as much done as I was hoping to. They will be written eventually as their own books, as most are ones I want to see what happens next myself, but it can make finishing my current project very challenging. I can't start ten books and never finish any of them.

Just looking at a picture on social media can get my mind spinning withe crafting intricate plots and characters. This past week I daydreamed about a story of two friends trying to find out where they were seeing a shattered world in the aftermath of a global war. And that was only from looking at a news picture on the devastation following the Maui wildfires (prayers for all those impacted❤). I'd been thinking it up for thirty minutes before I realized it, and the task I was to be doing was long gone from my mind. Truth is, I still don't remember what it was.

Thus, I hate my brain. But only sometimes.
