History of Magic

A very difficult class to teach, History of Magic is the most loaded subject material class in existence. Teaching well over 2000 years of magical history means that only the most important highlights could ever be covered in detail during class time. Any in depth study of a particular area of history must be assigned as homework, or at the student's leisure. The sheer amount of history that the magical world has made is almost twice that as the non-magical world.

There are several mandatory lessons that the Magicsl Congress demands be taught in the class. One of the mandatory lessons that is taught in class is the purge of 1692 in North America by the non-magical people that led to the strengthening of the secrecy laws. As a result, a lot of historical tension was created. It is one of the best case studies that the magical world in the Americas have studied, based on it is the first well documented purge since the Hyperkasen Cataclysm.

At Gerhardt, the class is taught by Professor Presnell. Although he has extensively studied a large portion of history, he notoriously has the penchant for stressing his lessons on the copious amount of goblin uprisings and rebellions that litter magical history. Because of this, many of Gerhardt's students lose nearly all their interest in learning about magical history. Whenever there is a substitute teacher for the class, it rejuvenates the students, however, Presnell is rarely gone.

If the entire history was taught only at the bare basics during the class time, it would take eighty-nine and a half years to teach. Because of this, most students read through their textbooks on their own if they are interested in a particular era.
