The Sacred 200

The Sacred 200 are the 200 most ancient Pureblood families that exist in the magical world, coming from North America, the United Kingdom, and most of Europe. They are considered the most elite of magical society, wielding power and wealth that most others can't even fathom. Despite the number, and the prestige, most of the families among the 200 prefer to not make waves politically in the magical world and live out their lives in peace.

Blood purity ideals among the Sacred 200 have always been mixed. Some families were intent on keeping their line pure, and regularly took practice in only marrying into other Pureblood families, whether they be members of the Sacred 200 or not. Some families even went so far as to arrange frequent inbreeding marriages in order to keep their line going strong. Incest marriages among the Sacred 200 were never done among siblings, only cousins, however. Others in the Sacred 200 do not care for such ideals. That being said, the majority are careful of their bloodlines when they marry, but it appears to be a subconscious decision, since all of the 50 most prominent families have not married a Nonblood witch or wizard in over three generations.

All of the Sacred 200 families have several Manors and estates spread out globally; a result of their enormous fortunes. In each of these places of residences are a veritable army of Servant Elves to maintain them in the stead of their wizard employers. Some of the families have Servant Elves that were born into their care, and these Elves are given key places of rank and residence in the Manors, considering their own lives the property to their wizard family.

The list of the Sacred 200 was originally compiled in 1807, then being called the Sacred 300, and updated to the most current version in 1949. As a result, in the interceding time, some of the Sacred 200 families are now extinct, among them the Marauder family.

Of the 200, only 50 families are currently active in affairs involving world events and politics. These 50 families have been dubbed the "aristocracy of the magical world". The families listed below are the 50 highest prominent families of the Sacred 200 that exist within the magical world.
